Mosh Pit

Ever heard of SteveSongs? Apparently he's famous....if you watch Npt. Anyhow, we heard that he was great from a couple of different sources and when we heard he was coming to town, we got tickets.

So, this morning, off we went for an outing "all the family" together! We don't do that much, sadly, but we did today and Meredith seemed to really be excited. We got to the Belcourt Theatre, found our seats, and bought a bucket of popcorn (which was much more reasonably priced than at a big theatre) and were ready. Meredith saw several other kids from her preschool and then the show got started.

Well, since we don't watch Npt we didn't know the songs by heart, but they were catchy and we enjoyed them. Then a bunch of kids who apparently watch Mr. Steve often (since I think his show comes on every morning) started going nuts. They loved it...and Meredith loved watching the other kids get so excited.

It wasn't long until a gob of kids rushed the stage and were screaming like any good fan would. A few minutes later, Meredith leans over to me and says, "let's go up there - come with me!" So, off we go toward the stage, since obviously no one cares that it had become sheer chaos. Meredith jumped right in with all the kids and I sat in the aisle watching. Meredith would look back at me and then do whatever the other kids were doing, including watching Mr. Steve.

The best part was that after a few minutes in the "5 & under" mosh pit, Meredith came back to me sitting on the floor and said, "you can go back and sit with Daddy." I just smiled and went back to my seat. Then a few minutes later we saw Meredith turned around and looking at us, just waving.

Wow... It seems like maybe we've crossed a bridge, turned a corner, felt .... a least it felt like a profound moment. Our little girl... growing up! So fun to watch and wonder what the next stage will hold, while missing the last stage just a little.
